Trailer Time: Thor: Love And Thunder
This is the trailer I wanted the first time. My belief was that first teaser for the general public to remind them (while they are watching Doctor Strange) that Marvel is back and movies are coming. This trailer is for the nerds and die hards. We get to see more of Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie. There are some excellent moments with Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, The Mighty Thor. Finally seeing Bale’s Gorr The God Butcher. He looks great. I’m excited to see how much damage he’s going to do in this film. Could this be the queerest MCU film ever? I sure hope Taika makes it so.
Trailer Time: Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning - Part One
I know some people have issues with this trailer dropping a year out. My theory is that Paramount did this to get some burn on the heels of Top Gun: Maverick. Some people didn’t even realize there was another Mission: Impossible coming out. During my Top Gun screening, a dad sitting next to me said “I didn’t even know they were making two more of these.” The general public is privy to the film news. It’s like people who watch sports. Some know it all but most don’t. This is a great, wild trailer. It feels very like the last couple of films. Wild action, a crazy story, and a lot of characters on both sides. Pom Klementieff looks like a total badass. It’s nice to see Hayley Atwell in an action movie outside of the MCU. I’m really hoping the filmmakers give Vanessa Kirby more to do than just be one of the most beautiful people on the planet. Not surprised the trailer ends with Tom Cruise running.
